Thrifty Finds...White Sewing Machine

I was so excited tho find this at the thrift store and better yet, it was only a sweet $10 bucks! And the cabinet was  in great shape too. I cleaned it up with a little old english and it was as good as new. I will need to get a new belt for it but it runs so I'm excited to see it work.  It also came with a bunch of needles and bobbins and such so whoever its previous owner definitely used it. And best of all, its the prettiest color, I've never seen another one like it.  What's your favorite sewing machine?  Happy Tuesday All.

Thrift Store Finds: Beaded Collar

This handmade vintage beaded collar took my breath away. It is even more beautiful in person. I paid a whole $12 bucks for it, which is a lot in my book but I knew I would regret not getting it forever if I didn't get it. The craftsmanship in this one is unreal. I wish I had skills like that. I absolutely love collars. I'm building quite a collection of them.  This is my second and I won't pass them up if I see them. Have you seen any cool ones lately?

Vintage Sewing Notions

I love finding vintage sewing notions at tag sales. I got all of these for a buck. I got hat pins, a snap kit, and random beads and a lank of really heavy white beads. It's so reasonable getting beads this way and repurposing them into something new.  What do you like to find at yard sales?

Sometimes all you get is a tiny orange deer

We hit a subdivision sale a couple weekends ago and  all I scored was this tiny little deer that now lives in one of my plants on my window sill.  I do have to say that it does make me smile every time I see it, usually while I'm doing dishes, which I have to say helps me get thru that chore. It always seems that someone in the car group making all sorts of good finds while the others find a treasure or two. I like my little treasure as funny as it might seen.  Happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend.

Little Lost Soul

I recently came across this book at an estate sale and looking into those lonely eyes, I just couldn't leave her there. I had to take her home.  This book was in such bad shape on the outside I would not normally have brought a book home that was in this condition but I knew that if I didn't she would end up in the trash.  She almost has a zombie appearance. I am going to make a point of reading this book and she will be displayed in my studio because I'm drawn too her little face. Have you ever taken home something that you know you shouldn't have? I couldn't help it.  Have a great weekend.

My record player score

A few weeks ago, my sister and I loaded up the kids and spent a Saturday morning hitting the yard sales.  And I scored this record player. I'm so excited. I have always wanted one and this one came with speakers. Vintage surround sound.  I need to take it in to get a needle put on it but besides that, it works like a dream. I can't wait to start collecting records. And I thinks it's so awesome that more and more artists are producing vinyl editions of their new songs.  I remember listening to my 45's that came with my story books as a  kid and I remember my dad's record collection. He had ton's of Elvis albums. How I wish he had held on to those. I would love to have them now. What are some of your favorite cherish records?

Vintage Lace Collar

I found this lace collar in a bag of old lace that I got from my grandma and I decided to turn it into a necklace.
I hand stitched wool felt pieces to the back of it to give it some stability and then added chain with jump rings that I stitched on the back and then I made it dangle in the back with a crystal embellishment on the end.  It would be so pretty with a strapless dress. For a nice evening out. Give those bags of lace a second look and maybe you will find a treasure. I will think of my grandma every time I wear it.

These pictures remind me of grandma's house

While I was cleaning out my studio this weekend, I came across these pictures that I completely forgot about. I remember my grandmother having these in one of her bedroom when I was a kid. She said they reminded her of her grand kids. We loved spending time at our grandma's as kids. Playing in the pool with our cousins. Picking fruits and vegetables from the garden and roller skating in the basement.  Good times. So when I saw these I had to have them. I actually found them at separate times. I found the boy first and held on to him for a long time. And when I found the girls, I got a bit teary. I completed the pair. I will be treasuring these forever.

Vintage Finds...Ceramics

We've got a Rooster Cookies Jar a cute little squirrel planter and these awesome coffee mugs.  They are much vibrant in person but as you can tell I've been experimenting with photo editing software so the color is altered a bit.  I love finding unique pieces to cheer up my kitchen. I'm going to have to start putting some of these pieces in my shop. I can't keep everything. What do you collect?

Pay your bills and Smell good doing it.

I found this at the thrift store and I had to have it for my husbands office. I remember these Avon Cologne bottles as a child, my father had a collection in his bathroom and i remember sneaking in there and playing with them and of course taking a whiff of each one. This one is cool because it's an actual stamp. Practical right?! I thought about filling it with cologne for my husband but I doubt he ever uses it. I might swipe it and use it myself. We will see. Does anyone else remember these?

This Vintage girl reminds me of my childhood.

I recently embroidered this little girl that I remember from my childhood. I remember that she was on my favorite coloring book. I wanted to memorialize her in red work. Which is my favorite style of embroidery. It's funny how you remember certain little things like that and how they still can make me smile.

Thrift Store Score- Vintage Joo-Kay Leather Purse

This was such an epic find. And for a sweet $5.99 it was all mine.  I have been looking for one of these for awhile and this one was just sitting in the thrift store just waiting for me to take it home.  Finding this purse did take the sting out of not getting this sweet deal.

Unfortunately this sweet bird cage was already sold. My heat skipped a beat when i saw it and it was only $100 dollars. I have always wanted an ornate bird case and this one was over 5Ft fall and in perfect condition. I was there when the girl came to pick it up. I had to complement her on her awesome find even tho it killed me. Someday I will find one too and then my husband will die a little inside when i tell him I'm bringing home a bird. Well you win some and you lose some.

Thrift Store Score- Vintage Beads

Lately I have been obsessed with loom beading so when i came across this lot of vintage beads, I have to say i was a bit giddy and I think I giggled a little bit to myself.  Even the bottles are cool. Old pharmacy jars and neat corked vials of brilliantly colored beads. Also there were a couple of finished pieces which i cherish because it's sweet knowing that someone devoted their time to it so I cherish it myself.  I can't wait to use them in some upcoming projects. Happy thrifting all.
